KOI: Lab assignments

• Assignment 0: Linux for beginners
• Assignment 1: Getting started with the C compiler, etc
• Assignment 2: A hand-coded parser
  
• Assignment 3: Creating a parser with Yacc or Bison
  
• Assignment 4: Lexical analysis. Making a scanner by hand and with Lex or Flex
  
• Assignment 5: Building abstract syntax trees
  
• Assignment 6: An interpreter that executes the syntax trees
  

• Assignment 7: Stack machine code. Optimization.
  

• A projekt that you should come up with on your own, and discuss with the teacher
  

Do the assignments at your own pace, but you are expected to finish them before the end of the course.

• The assignments will not all take the same time. The numbers of the assignments will not necessarily agree with the numbers of the scheduled lab times. You can expect assignment 2 and 3 to take longer than the others.
• You will probably have to work on the assignments outside the scheduled times. Don't expect that the scheduled time is enough to prepare, deisgn, code, debug, document and show the assignments on those few hours.

The assignments can be done under any operating system that has compilers for C and C++, and version of Yacc/Bison and Lex/Flex. The instructions here are for Linux, and they are easiest to do using Linux, macOS or some other Unix-derived OS, but in previous years we have also used Windows, and there are some very old Windows-specific lab instructions.
